Principal Report

Dear Families,

As we are nearing the end of the school year 2024 it is an exciting time for children. Even though we are excited about the Advent season, the children are tired, and I am sure looking forward to the Christmas break.

End of year Mass
Thank you to all the families who came to our final Mass for the end of the year- The
children were respectful during the service and enjoyed answering questions from Father during the homily. Our next Mass will be the graduation Mass where we farewell the Grade 6 students.

Next year’s captains
Congratulations to all Grade 5 students who put themselves forward to be counted in as school captains and school leaders. Every year the depth of the students’ speeches has had more detail and evidence for putting themselves forward. The senior teachers have
prepared the students well and all students need to be commended for their efforts. One tradition we have had since my time at Sacred Heart is that the new captains ring their parents from the office and tell them that they have been awarded Captain or Vice-Captain. This will happen on Monday.

LITTLE LEARNERS
Our Little learners have finished their transition, and all have settled well. We are keen forthem to begin an exciting start for next year.

Statewide Transition Day
Next Tuesday all students will meet their new teachers during the day. Grade 6’s will mostly be at their new schools. Next year’s Foundation students are not required at school on this day.

Grade 6 Graduation
Grade 6 students will have their big day out this year at the Butter Factory in Traralgon. They will spend the day bowling and sharing a meal and each other’s company. They will then attend Mass and an award ceremony in the church. Afterwards they will have a meal at the R.S.L. with their families. Well done to all you are all ready for the next steps on your journey.

Nừdel Kart
We had an amazing time with Scott from Nừdel Kart https://www.nudelkart.com/. Last Thursday. The students worked in groups and collaborated on a larger project made out of small parts that connected together. The Nừdel Kart lends itself to all kinds of constructions and relies on teamwork, trial and error and persistence.

Aboriginal Families Afternoon tea

Thank you to all the families who sponsored us at the Aboriginal Families Afternoon Tea. Beautiful deigns we constructed of the Male and Female totems “Yeerung and Djeetgun” ready for the creation of pavers for the school in the pick-up zone.

Carols and Sausage sizzle
Our Carol and Traditional Nativity Play will be held on Wednesday night. This year we will have the play on the basketball court. Sauage sizzle will be first allowing the Foundation students time to get ready in their costumes. Please let the school know if you are coming for catering of the sausages.

CAR PARK
When dropping off students to the top door parents and carers must park. If you would like to drop off and go quickly, please use the bottom drop off zone.
Children cannot be dropped off in front of the flags in the morning and walking back up to the top gate. They cannot be dropped off half way out of the car park on the exit space.
Drop off through drive through in the morning must be at the bottom gate.
This is essential for the safety of the children Reports The end of semester reports will be available on the PAM platform on 19 th December.

Absence at school
If your child is unwell for an extended period, we are required to ask for a medical
certificate. If you are taking your child for a holiday or have a family event for any period, we must have written notification. This can be via email or the SIMON everywhere app.
Attending school is compulsory, and we are required by law to record daily attendances.

Blessings to you all for the end of Term,
Anne-Marie Robb
