Principal Report

Good Afternoon Sacred Heart Families,

It has been a very busy time at Sacred Heart over the last two weeks.

Bookweek

Book Week was celebrated with our annual dress-up and parade. Students enjoyed classroom activities and an online incursion with Andy Griffiths, hosted by the State Library of Victoria.

Combined Schools Mass

On Thursday, 21st August, we celebrated Mass with St Vincent de Paul and Lumen Christi Catholic Primary Schools. This was a wonderful opportunity for all three schools to gather in the Year of Jubilee under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope.”

Students from Lumen Christi and the Year 5/6 students from St Vincent de Paul joined us at Sacred Heart for activities after Mass. Father James visited all year levels, and students decorated a hand to represent their family heritage. These hands will be displayed at Sacred Heart Church for the Jubilee of Migrants celebration on Sunday, 5th October 2025.

It was a great day of learning, working together, and building connections with others.

District Athletics

Congratulations to the following students who represented Sacred Heart at District Athletics. They competed in a range of events against other schools, displaying great sportsmanship. Well done to, Jindarah, Anna, Peyton, Nyoakia, Maddy, Aisha, Hayden, Tahlia, Oliver H, Indy, Kosta, Scarlett, Isabella, Xavier, Ali, Brodie, Sunday, Chase, Chevy, Harper and Thanmaya.

We are also proud to announce that of these competitors 10 have made it to the Division Athletics round which will be held in the coming weeks.

Cricket

Our Grade 3/4 students had the wonderful opportunity to take part in cricket skills sessions with players from the Melbourne Stars Squad. They played fun games and were delighted to each receive a cricket ball to take home. The weather was kind to us for the walk to and from the Morwell Recreation Reserve.

Swimming

School swimming is fast approaching. Students will engage in the schools swimming program run by the Morwell Leisure Centre in week 8 and week 9 of this term. They will experience and learn a range of skills and movements used in water. This is part of the Victorian Curriculum. Students will participate in a total of 8 lessons this year. If you have not had the opportunity please log into PAM to sign the consent form and to also update your child’s swimming ability. If you have any issues in doing this please contact the school office.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent/Teacher interviews will be held on Wednesday 3rd September from 3:30pm - 6:00pm. Interviews can be booked through your PAM profile.

Student Free Day

Friday 5th of September is a student free day.

Social Media

We continue to ask that all parents and care givers continue to monitor their children on digital platforms. Children in primary school have not yet developed the capabilities to self-regulate in this area of interaction.

Father’s Day Celebration

Our annual Father’s Day Breakfast will be held on Thursday 4th of September from 8-9am to celebrate our Father’s and special role models in our families. If families could please return the slip with how many people will be attending for catering purposes.
