Principal Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to thank the Grade 3 students and their families who shared a delightful evening
with us last night. The People, Party and Prayer evening was a celebration for the Grade
three level with a focus on forgiveness. The students played challenging games and had the
opportunity to reflect on fairness through fun games against their parents. The children
prepared parts of our supper and shared their insights on many aspects of the discussions during
the evening.
UNIFORM
I draw your attention to ensuring your students have a school hat every day. We are
not encouraging the sharing of hats. The consequence for not having a hat at school
is playing in the undercover area.
NAPLAN
This week both students in Grade 3 and Grade 5 have begun the NAPLAN
assessment schedule. The Grade 3 students have a hand written test for the writing
component and the rest of the assessment is online. All the Grade 5 assessment is
online. The students are sitting the assessment in the Library in strict exam
conditions. With the assessment mostly being online it means the schedule is
implemented over two weeks and children who miss days are able to catch up within
the two weeks following.
HOT LUNCH FRIDAY
We enjoyed hot chips last week. We are looking forward to supplying a regular set of
options for Friday lunches moving into term 2
LOLLIES AT SCHOOL
Again I ask that parents/carers curb the amount of lollies that children bring to
school. We are finding that children are eating them before school, as well as at play
time (and sometimes trying to eat them in class). Loads of sugar does not help focus
for learning. We encourage all families to limit lollies especially “all day lollipops” to
special occasions. Please send fresh fruit, carrot sticks, celery or sultanas. There
are periodic fruit stops during the learning sessions which children look forward to.
CAR PARK NEWS FLASH
It is with great delight that I can share with you the joy of the car park. Moving in and
out is finally easier with the removal of the fencing. The large hole that was
developing in drive through has also been filled.
Also a reminder that when dropping off students in the morning please
either park in the car park and have the students walk across the crossing or drive to
the bottom gate.
For safety reasons we cannot have cars parking where the morning flags or
beyond to let children out. Parents and Cares who wish to drop and run must
drive to the gate at 8:30 and let the children walk up inside the school.
Cars must move in and around the car park at walking pace (10kph) as designated
by the signs on the road and (5kph) in the car park. Everybody must enter and leave
the road slowly.
I wish you all a restful weekend in this heat,
God Bless,
Anne-Marie Robb
