Principal Report

Good Afternoon,

I pray that all mum’s enjoyed their day on Sunday.

Mother’s day afternoon tea
It was an absolute joy to share the afternoon on Friday with mums, step mums,
grandmothers, grandfathers, aunties, carers and a few dads.
I would like to congratulate the choir who sang beautifully and with so much
enthusiasm. A special thank you to Ali who led us in Wooden Heart by Elvis. His
confidence inspired all the choir to step up and sing out. Also, a special thank you
Apenisa, Ima and Leno who stood up to sing their favourite Fijian hymn in front of the
whole school.
Also thank you to the teachers, educational support officers and the senior leaders
who all put in that extra bit of effort so these special days truly celebrate our
community coming together.

Grade 6 Kinder Visit
Again, our Grade 6 children had the opportunity to visit a kindergarten. The children
walked to Maryvale and shared their expertise in playing games. This was a follow
up from Term 1. I will be engaging in conversations with the other kindergartens this
term and the Grade 6 children will be challenged to create an inquiry question
around the Big Idea “Explore”.

Online Platforms
I continue to ask all parents to be exceptionally vigilant with online platforms as
children at school age are not meant to be on them alone and most do not have the
maturity to be able to self-regulate without support from an adult. Please keep an
eye on your child/rens interactions on digital platforms.

Ms Lynne Retiring
This week we are a little sad as Ms Lynne our school counsellor has retired. I take
this occasion to thank Ms Lynne for all her positive work. The children loved having
visits with her individually and in small groups. Ms Lynne will be replaced as we go
through the advertising and employment process. We wish Ms Lynne well for the
next stage of her life journey.

Aboriginal Family’s Afternoon Tea
On Thursday afternoon we had our second Aboriginal family’s afternoon tea. During
the session we discussed the clan shields of the Gunaikurnai people. The children
came up with some ideas on how to create an artwork that represents the shields for
the school. This will be shared with all the students at school and will be a focus for
learning outcomes in our Aboriginal studies.

Senior Sports
This week some of our Grade 5/6 students will be going out to play netball and
soccer. We wish them good luck and know they will represent our school with pride.

Blessing for the week ahead,
Anne-Marie Robb
