Dear Families,

Again, I must report that we have had a fabulous fortnight. The last week offers us
opportunities for good choices making fun in learning. Swimming lessons will run from
Monday to Thursday and on Friday we will finish at 1:00 with a footy lunch at school and a
dress up day. Notes for this will go home today.

Unsatisfactory Uniforms

I thank the families who have reported to me that their uniforms have had poor stitching. I
ask all families who have experienced this, email me the number of tops and the sizes they
need replacing. Can you let me know before Thursday next week ?

Unwell students

We are still having a considerable number of students report being unwell. Often having a
persistent cough long after the children are presenting as well again. Please contact the
school if you are unsure about your child returning to school.

Inquiry “Choices”

All students have continued to engage in the inquiry “Choices” with the juniors trying
healthy food and engaging in a fabulous picnic. The seniors have engaged with a question-
and-answer session with the police who visited the school and talked about safe choices in
the community and engaging with the police force in a positive way. Most of the seniors
have had a go at interacting in gym activities… and next week we are all having the
opportunity to engage in swimming lessons.

VICSPELL

This week Shenuli will go onto the state championship in Traralgon, we wish her all the best
for Tuesday.

Religion

The children across the whole school have looked at the story of Joseph and his
multicoloured coat from Genisis on the Old Testament. They are being taught about when it
happened, the culture it came from at the time and comparing issues in the story between
this time and ours. They are considering the choices Joseph made and the things he needed
to consider when he had been challenged. What he chose when he was presented with
confrontation and the interactions he needed to consider when he was in position to
retaliate. The children may be able to tell you about the story and what they have found
interesting in it.

School Advisory Committee- AGM

Our AGM will be held on Thursday 14 th September, we have some keen participants to be on
the committee, we are still looking for three more people. The SAC is a group of parents and
potentially parishioners who come together 5 times in a year to discuss what is happening in

the school and to share their thoughts on the direction of the school. If you are interested
please collect a nomination form, from the office next week. With three more spots to fill I
ask you to consider the thoughts and talents you have to offer.

School uniform

It is great to see most students are wearing the correct school uniform with no brand black
shoes. Next week we will be sending friendly reminders if your child is not in the correct
uniform. Please send your child with a note (email to teachers) if they are out of uniform,
we understand wet socks and muddy shoes and not yet dry jumpers on occasion.
In the coming weeks parents may receive a ping on their SIMON everywhere app if their
child is in the incorrect uniform.

Absence at school

If your child is unwell for an extended period, we are required to ask for a medical
certificate. If you are taking your child for a holiday or have a family event for any period of
time, we must have written notification. This can be via email or the SIMON everywhere
app. Attending school is compulsory, and we are required by law to record daily
attendances.

Adding to the teacher email list is office@shmorwell.catholic.edu.au  Both Ms Kristy and
Mrs. Heinemann receive these emails and will direct the information or questions to where
it needs to go.
