Welcome to Term 3,
This term our big idea is “Mind Body and Soul”. The learning outcomes from the Victorian Curriculum for junior students will be about healthy choices, healthy eating and hygiene. The senior students will also learn about these concepts at their level and positive mindset, positive body image and online safety. Grade 5 and 6 are engaging with “Youthspace” presenters over the course of the term at school. Their sessions are focused on transition to high school and positive interactions with peers.
From our Religious Curriculum the students are learning about prayer and also the Creation Stories.
This year we have a revised edition to the R.E. curriculum were a comparison is made between the creation stories in the bible and our First Nation’s Creation Stories.
Lastly, we all look forward to the excitement of the last two weeks of term where the whole school will have daily swimming lessons.
GRANDPARENTS DAY
The celebrations for Grandparents Day continue to delight us, and the day last Friday continued the delightful tradition. This year we celebrated in the afternoon, with icing biscuits and muffins, playing interactive games, colouring, sharing work and an opportunity to visit our book fair. Thank you so much to all the families who sponsored the students on our special day. Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles, Parents and Special friends visiting all make a wonderful day for our community.
UNIFORM
All students at Sacred Heart are expected to be in the correct uniform at all times at school. If you are waiting on an order or have wet and muddy items, please let your child’s teacher know via email or note. Out of uniform will mean that an infringement note will be sent home, please ensure your child has the correct shoes (black with no logo), correct jacket with the logo and correct T-shirt.
Plain green windcheaters are not acceptable. If you are wearing the old style windcheater and need to upgrade, please come to the office as we have some second hand available. Coloured hair ties must be red, white, bottle green, black or natural hair colour. Unicorn or rainbow is not acceptable.
Earrings are to be a sleeper, or a stud and necklaces can be a religious pendant to be worn at the students’ own risk. Nail polish is not allowed, socks must be black, bottle green, white or the school branded socks, if it is cold, a black or bottle green or old style knitted beanie can be worn outside.
(We are soon to have a school beanie, with the design voted on by the children). Please ensure your child is in the correct uniform.
SOCIAL MEDIA
I continue to ask that all parents and care givers continue to monitor their students on digital platforms. Children in primary school have not yet developed the capabilities to self-regulate in this area of interaction.
THE NEW OVAL
We continue to work towards the children accessing the new oval. We have started to demolish the buildings and structures in the way, which in the interim gives a little more space for the children.
We have a School Advisory Committee meeting in the next few weeks, and we will look at the stage progress of the current plans.
Blessings for a lovely Winter weekend,
Anne-Marie Robb
