Mid-Winter Greetings,
This past two weeks has been full of wonderful activity.
Basketball
Seniors have been Basketball playing against the other schools in Morwell. We thank Mrs. P for her crash course in Basketball umpiring and Mrs. Martin for organizing the event. All the children put in 100% and showed great sportsmanship.
Science Week
It has been a terrific week this week celebrating Science Week. Helene the teaching
Forensic Scientist came from Melbourne to support the STEM program for both junior and senior classes. The students were involved in a scientific investigation where a virtual crime had been committed and the children worked together in small groups to piece together the evidence. The children first taped off the area to protect the evidence they then identified clues. They interpreted, analysed, observed, explored and asked questions. The students learnt about fingerprint impressions; they looked at hair and fibre to solve the mystery. During this process they were encouraged to develop scenarios to explain the possible solutions.
UNIFORM
All students at Sacred Heart are expected to be in the correct uniform at all times at school. If you are waiting on an order or have wet and muddy items, please let your child’s teacher know via email or note. Out of uniform will mean that an infringement note will be sent home, please ensure your child has the correct shoes (black with no logo), correct jacket with the logo and correct T-shirt. Plain green windcheaters are not acceptable. If you are wearing the old style windcheater and need to upgrade, please come to the office as we have some second hand available. Coloured hair ties must be red, white, bottle green, black or natural hair colour. Unicorn or rainbow is not acceptable. Earrings are to be a sleeper, or a stud and necklaces can be a religious pendant to be worn at the students’ own risk. Nail polish is not allowed, socks must be black, bottle green, white or the school branded socks, if it is cold, a black or bottle green or old style knitted beanie can be worn outside. (We are soon to have a school beanie, with the design voted on by the children). Please ensure your child is in the correct uniform.
SOCIAL MEDIA
I continue to ask that all parents and care givers continue to monitor their students on digital platforms. Children in primary school have not yet developed the capabilities to self-regulate in this area of interaction.
THE NEW OVAL
We continue to work with the architects and landscape gardeners and hope that the house will be demolished over the September holidays. More information will come soon.
Blessings for the weekend,
Anne-Marie Robb

Anglicare Victoria Foster Care Program
Victoria is facing a severe shortage of foster carers to look after vulnerable children who can’t live at home. Here in Gippsland, more carers are needed to keep kids in their communities.
Anglicare Victoria is one of the leading foster care agencies in the state. Each year, our volunteer foster carers care for around 800 children and young people in need.
We are currently seeking more foster carers across Gippsland to meet the needs of our vulnerable children and young people in care.
