Dear Parents and Carer’s,
This week we began our transition program across the school. Children in Grade 6 have been supporting next year’s Grade 1 and Grade 2 classes with Advent activities, and next year’s Grade 3’s, 4’s, 5’s and 6’s have begun working together in the senior rooms to become familiar with the space and transitioning procedures. The teachers and Education Support Officers are working across all levels during this transition space so that children will be accompanied at all times by familiar faces and new faces. Our official transition day will be on Tuesday 15th December.
We have had information regarding the changes in COVID regulations. Our assemblies can resume with them being exclusively attended by students and staff only. Yesterday we really felt fabulous when we could gather together after recess and lunch to reflect on how we had enacted our RISE expectations. We will continue to follow public health directions and apply the health and safety advice during school assemblies. This means adults will continue wearing face masks taking them off briefly for photos, or giving a speech.
This means our graduation ceremony will take place. Grade 6 students will receive a notice today regarding details. This is a collective design with the school aligning activities with the parent planned celebration in the evening.
We are also excited about the celebration of Confirmation on 11th December. Six Grade 6 students are currently being prepared by Mrs. Hicks for the Sacrament, with all of the senior unit learning about the gifts and fruits of the Spirit we find in each other.
I have found the children at school have embraced the journey of Advent this term through fundraising, and proactive participation in the Friday celebrations for children needier than themselves.
Please relax and enjoy the weekend,
Blessings and yours in partnership ,
Anne-Marie Robb
Hello Sacred Heart, only 2 1/2 weeks until the summer holidays. Within the next few weeks we want you to enjoy yourself and make the most of it.
From your School Captains Claudia & Deaken.
Social Justice Warriors - Caritas Fund Raiser
Last Friday the Social Warriors held a Coloured Clothes Day. Students participated wearing their casual clothes for a coin donation in support of Caritas. Together with the icy-pole sales a total of $191.55 was raised. Well Done!
Today they are holding a Mini Athletics afternoon. A lot of fun, exercise and laughter filled the afternoon.
Next week on 4th December, the Social Justice Warriors are holding a Christmas dress up day. It will be interesting to see what creative tinsel and Christmas decorations are added to the dress up.
For students who will be attending Lavalla Secondary College next year, please see attached letter from Mr Doug Doherty, Deputy Principal, Student Well-Being Operations regarding Orientation.
For the students who will be attending Kurnai College - Morwell Campus, I’m pleased to to advise the Morwell Campus is now in a position to run the three full day Orientation program commencing on Tuesday 8th December through to Friday 11th December. Orientation will run from 8.40am to 2.50pm daily.
Students are required to bring a pen and paper along with their lunch and drink bottle.
The program will be conducted in school groups, rather than the 2021 class groups.
For your interest please see attached flyer.
