Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back “Take 3”, I can only commend the outstanding resilience our community have all shown during the ‘on again’ ‘off again’ lock-downs we have been living through.
Changes- Inter-school sports- Book Week- Eucharist- Mid Winter Prayers
All these changes have brought about a seemingly perpetual uncertainty with any planned event. The First Eucharist has again been placed on hold, our inter-school sports had been rescheduled to be on the same day as, or planned Book Week celebrations. Leigh Hobbs the author of Mr. Chicken, Horrible Harriet, Fiona the Pig and Mr. Badger very kindly was able to transfer his zoom meetings with our school to the following day. For all those interested in finding more about Leigh Hobbs here is his official web site https://www.leighhobbs.com.au/ .
The juniors planned “Mid-Winter Prayers” evening with a shared dinner will most probably become “Early-Spring Prayers”, and the retreat evening for Grade 6’s will potentially be showcased in Term 4.
Recapping the changes…
Eucharist on hold
Senior Inter-school Sport Wednesday 18th June
Book Week dress-up day Thursday 19th June
Early-Spring Prayer- on hold
Senior retreat- on hold

PBS shop
PBS stands for Positive Behaviour Support… as part of our Whole School Approach to Positive Behaviour Support system we have introduced Sacred Heart coins. The children can earn these coins for their efforts at behaving well, completing tasks to the best of their abilities, interacting with respect and showing acts of genuine kindness. With the coins, rewards such as 10 minutes extra play, 10 minutes extra computer time, a ride in the elevator and lunch with the principal… (that is 150 coins!) can be bought at a specific time of the week.
The children, especially the seniors, have rallied around these opportunities and worked in teams to reward themselves with coins.
The children will work on reporting about their journey with this system as we move on next term.
Also, don’t forget, Friday 27th August 2021 is a school closure day.
Again, thank you for your communication and your patience during the challenging times we are in. Enjoy the weekend and the sunshine while it lasts tomorrow.
Blessings to all,
Anne-Marie Robb
Principal
Hi everyone. We're back! This week we celebrated Mary MacKillop’s feast day with an online assembly. Seniors designed an indigenous shelter last week and built them out of newspaper. It was fun and helpful to learn how they were built and it was hard to make the models stand up, so we got an idea of how difficult it would be to build life size ones.
Today in the senior unit we made healthy sandwiches for our inquiry. Everyone gave new things a go and enjoyed it a lot. I think everyone is glad to be back at school again. Have a great weekend.
Celebrating Indigenous Children's Day
Sacred Heart Primary School children spent an afternoon reflecting and learning about the culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders. It gave them an opportunity to show their support for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander children by learning about symbols, story and dance. The children worked on a collaborative activity of hand decorating inspired by Aboriginal art work which will be showcased to the community for the proposed site of the “Bush Tucker Garden” on Commercial Rd.
Please note the change of date for the Book Week activities and parade from Wednesday 18th August to Thursday 19th August, 2021.
