Friday 11th February 2022
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Term One, considering the current situation, with the added frustration of RAT testing and COVID-19 in the community our children have returned ready to engage in their learning.
I would like to say how impressed I was with the interest from the Grade 5/6 students with leadership roles currently that are currently being applied for.
We have Sports Captains for each house, Sustainably Warriors, Social Justice Team, PBS (Positive Behaviour Support) shop leaders, SRC (School Representative Council) and leaders for “Prayer of the Air”.
Priority is given to the Grade Sixes, however, we strongly encourage the Grade 5s to put their hands up to be part of the teams to ensure we fill all our spaces.
PBS shop
Our PBS shop will be open next week on Friday. This shop has lots of fun things that the children can buy with their reward coins. Last year favourite things were a ride in the elevator, free time, art club, cooking and the most prised was lunch with the principal.
All children have an opportunity to earn coins for particular focused behaviour around our expectations Respect, Inclusive and Safe. Earning coins happens when children go over the expected and follow in the steps of Mary McKillop, caring for each other and “Never seeing a need without doing something about it.”
UNIFORM
It is very pleasing to see so many of our children beautifully attired in the correct school uniform. This term our focus is on shoes.
Starting from next week, teachers will be checking shoes. Sports day is Wednesday so any coloured pair of runners is fine on Wednesday our official sport day, or if told, on an excursion and definitely on camp.
On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday we expect black shoes to be worn. They can be comfortable, they do not have to be leather, just plain black shoes. We ask that shoes with brand markings not be worn. A white sole is acceptable.
COMMUNICATION
We are asking all communication with teachers is via email or phone. Written notes often get lost and teachers are able to revisit the digital message at any time. The teachers will respond as soon as practicable in the next day of your message.
All students will receive a reading log in the next few weeks. This is for recording reading as directed by the teachers in your student’s level. The reading logs will be checked at different times during the week by different teachers.
Please communicate with teachers via phone or email.
Teachers emails are as follows:-

HATS
Please ensure your child has their own hat. We do not want children to share hats or use a spare. Hats are available at the office for $10.
Rapid Antigen Tests RATS
RATS test will be distributed on Tuesday in the same way we did in week one. A table will be set up on the grassed area at the top end of the car park where parents can pick up the tests.
If you cannot attend in person on Tuesday morning collection, tests will be available in the office at any time, or please send an email to the school giving us permission to send it home with your child.
I wish you all a restful weekend,
God Bless,
Anne-Marie Robb
Hello parents and students,
Mayah & Rahni have been elected for 2022 school captains with vice captains being Elli and Isabella. We hope you can welcome us and settle in as the new leaders for Sacred Heart.
We know the last couple of years it has been rough with masks, covid-19, homes-schooling and social distancing . If we stay on the bright side of things and think positive we can survive this year.
Over the next couple of days we will be having elections for different leadership roles in the school, such as S.R.C (Student Representative Council), P.B.S (Positive Behaviour Support) which will be for grades (1-6). Also prayer of the air, Sports captains, social justice team and sustainability warriors.
During Term 1 we will be preparing baptised students in Grade 3 and above who are ready to commence the journey of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Due to COVID restrictions some dates have changed for this preparation.
Workshop 1- Tuesday 8th March, 2022 at 5pm
Workshop 2- Wednesday 23rd March, 2022 at 5pm
Sacrament of Reconciliation- Thursday 31st March, 2022 at 5pm
A note will be going home early next week for those who are interested. If you have any questions please email Michelle Inchincoli at minchincolishmorwelll.catholiceduu.au
