Dear Parents and Carers,
Following the People, Party and Prayer evening the children who have been preparing for
their 1st Reconciliation celebrated with Lumen Christie students and St. Vincent’s students
last night at the Sacred Heart church. Families sat with the children who were both nervous
and excited. The children have shared their thoughts with me and all have told me it has
been an exciting and positive experience. They have asked to have the opportunity to
receive the sacrament more often at school, I will talk with Father James about organising
this opportunity for all children who have made their Reconciliation.
UNIFORM
I have been very impressed with the up take of wearing black shoes with no brand markings
on days other than sport days. Next week we will be trialling a communication option which
is part of the PAM platform to inform parents your child/ren are out of uniform. To
avoid this notification please ensure your child is wearing black shoes with no distinctive
logo.
HOT LUNCH FRIDAY
Today we enjoyed hot chips again. Next week we will send out a new term calendar for
Term 2, with updates on activities happening during the term. This will include Hot Lunch
Fridays. We are looking forward to supplying a regular set of options for Friday lunches
moving into Term 2.
LOLLIES AT SCHOOL
Again I ask that parents/carers curb the amount of lollies that children bring to school. We
are finding that children are eating them before school, as well as at play time ( and
sometimes trying to eat them in class). Loads of sugar does not help focus for learning. We
encourage all families to limit lollies especially “all day lollipops” to special occasions. Please
send fresh fruit, carrot sticks, celery, or sultanas. There are periodic fruit stops during the
learning sessions which children look forward to.
LAST DAY OF TERM
On our last day with students on Thursday April 6th the Easter Bonnet Parade will be
presented in our sheltered assembly area and the Stations of the Cross under the
playground covered area. The 5/6 students have been organising the religious celebrations
and all children have an opportunity to create their own Easter bonnet at school. They do
not have to use the one made at school for the parade if they would prefer to bring one
from home.
The Easter Bonnet Parade will be presented at 9:00 with morning tea for parents provided
after while the Grade 5/6 prepare the Stations of the Cross. The Easter Raffle will be drawn
after the Stations of the Cross. All parents are invited to join for all the celebrations in the
morning. School will finish at 1:00pm before lunch.
God Bless,
Anne-Marie Robb
