Newsletter Term 2 - Week 1 ( 28/04/2023 )
Dear Families Welcome to Term 2,
We have had a wonderful start to albeit short beginning with only two days.
I would like to thank the students and families who came to represent our school at the ANZAC day parade. All children were respectful and showed patience during the service.
Term two has the big idea of Explore. The students will be studying geography from the Victorian Curriculum, some of the concepts being taught at the different levels will be geographical, environmental, seasonal and mapping.
The concepts that will be explored from the RE curriculum will be around the action of the Holy Spirit and all the ways we can pray.
Grade 6 children will be engaged in studying the work of the Holy Spirit through Catholic Saints and the everyday saints they know. So parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles expect to be interviewed. They will also have their Service Evening where they will have a retreat day and prepare a meal for a selection of adults.
Mother's day looms and on Thursday we will have a casual clothes day in exchange for students to bring a nice item for the mother's day raffle.
Today once again I need to commend the Sacred Heart Community for enacting our RISE expectations. Respect, Inclusive, safe and Everyone.
Sports day can be a challenge for some students, it takes us out of our comfort zone and challenges us to expand our tolerance and grow our capabilities. Today all children who attended were in that space at their own level, whether it was coming first in a race or coping with not coming first. Being with our peers and understanding each other's feelings as well as managing our own. To the teachers and support staff I thank the exceptional efforts you go to during the course of the school day, especially on days like today where your breaks are minimal and flexibility ensures a smoothly run day. Thank you.
I ask all parents to be exceptionally vigilant with online platforms as children at school age are not meant to be on them alone and most do not have the maturity to be able to self regulate without support from an adult. Please keep an eye on your child/rens interactions on digital platforms.
Blessing for the weekend,
Anne-Marie Robb

God of love and liberty, we bring our thanks this day for the peace and security we enjoy, which was won for us through the courage and devotion of those who gave their lives in time of war. We pray that their labour and sacrifice may not be in vain, but that their spirit may live on in us and in generations to come.
