Good Afternoon Sacred Heart Families,
Catholic Education Week
We have had a lovely week this week celebrating Catholic Education week.
We began the week with a whole school Mass on Friday and then we invited all
families for an information/showcase night. The children had the opportunity to share
some games that they play in their learning with their parents. They showed their
work and their classrooms.
On Thursday we were lucky to have Mr. Paul Velton, the new director of DOSCEL
(Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Limited) come to visit us. Some children took
the opportunity to chat with him about themselves and their learning. He was able to
see our point of need in action which was impressive.
Online Platforms
Again, I ask all parents to be exceptionally vigilant with online platforms as children
at school age are not meant to be on them alone and most do not have the maturity
to be able to self-regulate without support from an adult. Please keep an eye on your
child/ren’s interactions on digital platforms.
Confirmation
Please keep Apenisa, Darci-Rose, Aleksja, Isabella H and Helanah in your prayers
as they have begun the journey of preparing for receiving the sacrament of
Confirmation. The Grade 6 team are supporting them as they are travelling along a
similar journey.
Reconciliation Week
All the students at school have had the opportunity to engage in activities around
Reconciliation Week. The children have coloured hands using Aboriginal Flag
colours and created collaborative displays showing their artwork. The seniors have
worked on a piece with many parts that connect together.
Senior Sports
The 5/6 students with support from some Grade 4’s represented our school in both
Netball and Soccer in this last fortnight. The most impressive thing I have heard from
members of the public and other schools was how well our students presented
themselves during game play and the whole time they were at the events.
Challenged by cold weather there was some terrific success on field and court and
hearty show of team spirit and positive sportsmanship.
School Uniform
Please continue to send your children in correct uniform, children must wear black
shoes on the four days they do not have sport. If they are wearing runners they must
not have brand logos on them.
School Tuck Shop
Today we had the first school run hot lunch day since before the COVID pandemic. A
huge thank you to our mums who brought the food together. There was only
celebration from the students at the choices they had. We are still working on more options for other Fridays and I am currently communicating with DOSCEL about
what we are allowed to do regarding out sourcing to delivering companies.
Blessing for the week ahead,
Anne-Marie Robb

Seniors Netball Day
On the 16th of May, it was school netball. We had one girl team and then one mixed team. Most of the time it was raining, but we have been assured that netball is meant to be played in freezing weather because it is a winter sport.
We weren’t the only school there and the other schools were Morwell Central, Morwell Park and St Vincent’s. For the girls netball, St Vincent’s won, as well as the boys. We came second overall and had a lot of fun and also a lot of wet socks.
Cross country
Last wednesday we had division cross country. Aleksja, Mali and Sunday went. Sunday came first and did very well. Mali came seventh in her race. And both of them made it to regionals.
Soccer
On Monday we had our school soccer. We were sadly one player short but Mrs Filders encouraged us to give it our best. So in the games Yien and Sunday scored the first goals. We won two out of three matches.
Hot lunch orders
On friday we had our new hot lunch orders. We would like to thank all the parents and friends that helped make the delicious hot lunches.
