Dear Families,
The year is rolling by quickly now and I take this occasion to thank the parents
helping with our tuck shop. I believe the system is running smoothly but we are
always keen for anyone with a working with children check to assist if they
have a few spare hours.
Social Media
I draw you attention to children on social media. It has come to light that
several students in the senior classes are interacting on platforms designed for
people well above their age. Children in primary school do not have the self-
regulation skills that adults have and do not understand the consequences of
posting or creating digital memes and movies. They do not understand the
consequences of using identification specific names without permission or the
consequences of interacting with unknown on-line users. I ask all parents who
allow their children on social media platforms to regularly access their child’s
platforms and frequently discuss with the consequences of their actions.
Please look at the guide in the newsletter with age appropriate use on
platforms.
Icy poles
The Social Justice Team are selling icy poles every Tuesday and Thursday. 50c
an icy pole on Tuesday and Thursday. Proceeds go to Catholic Mission.
Grandparent’s Day
It was a beautiful day on Friday last week with many special people,
grandparents and friends visiting us. The children get a real buzz out of
showing their workspace to their extended family. We were delighted that our
crossing lady Gena was able to come and share the day with us.
School uniform
This week there has been a great uptake of wearing black shoes with no brand
names. I thank you for your all for your commitment to Sacred Heart. We will
continue with random uniform checks. Please ensure to send your child with a
note (email to teachers- I ask that adults explain this) if they are out of
uniform, we understand wet socks and muddy shoes and not yet dry jumpers
on occasion.
In following weeks parents may receive a ping on their SIMON everywhere app
if their child is in the incorrect uniform.
Socks should also have no branding unless it is the Sacred Heart brand, socks
can be white, black or green.
Grade 4 Greeting and Gathering Evening.
Thank you to all the families who attended last Thursday night for the Grade 4
students Gathering and Greeting evening. The children enjoyed some acting
and interaction with their parents and then a light pizza supper. All the
children who came enjoyed the fun of the evening.
Communicating with teachers
At Sacred Heart we invest in the partnership we have with families. We invite
all parents and carers to communicate with teachers about any concern you
may have regarding your child’s education. If there is a concern brought to
your attention, please let us know so we can work together to improve
learning outcomes. Email is an efficient way to communicate.

Absence at school
If your child is unwell for an extended period, we are required to ask for a
medical certificate. If you are taking your child for a holiday or have a family
event for any period of time, we must have written notification. This can be via
email or the SIMON everywhere app. Attending school is compulsory, and we
are required by law to record daily attendances. The department of education
standard for school attendance is 90% any lower than this can impact your
child’s learning,
Cricket
Finally, our students attended the cricket, with children away and last-minute
changes, we had some valiant volunteers who stepped in and showed the
world that at Sacred Heart we are responsible, resilient and resolute. Both the
boy’s and the girl’s teams had a share in winning games and interacted well
with the other schools.
Please enjoy the blessings of your children over the long long weekend,
God Bless,
Anne-Marie Robb

Cricket was great fun and both teams had a few wins.
The senior floor have been making marble runs and getting creative with their designs. We have also been getting ready for the Sacred Heart mini fete!
The next few weeks will be busy. Grade 5 and 6's have an open water experience coming up at Inverloch.
Grade 6's are beginning transistions to high school, we are all a bit excited and nervous at the same time.
