Dear Parents and Carers,
We are certainly living in challenging and extraordinary circumstances. The teaching staff are continuing to work on improving student learning outcomes through introducing proven high impact teaching strategies. Some changes are being made to develop more efficient and practical pathways to deliver a tailored learning progression for each child. The groupings for learning are considered and the feedback I have received from students is positive. I would like to thank all staff for their efforts in this space.
The following points cover all aspects of the Victorian Government announcement.
* Face coverings will be mandatory for all Victorians when they leave their home.
* Face coverings will be mandatory for people aged 12 and over outside of the primary school environment.
* Students in primary schools are not required to wear a face covering or mask at school.
* All visitors to schools are required to wear face coverings including parents, guardians and carers when dropping off and picking up their children from school.
* Transporting people from a different residence in your car requires the above information to be applied whilst in the car.
* All children who have a cold, runny nose or any sign of illness must stay at home until they are better.
* Children who are living in the same house as someone who has had a COVID-19 test and is waiting for a result must stay at home until the results are returned negative.
I have continued to be delighted by the response to my mention of wearing the correct uniform for winter. Many more children are looking smart in the correct trousers and jumpers for winter. Nearly 100% are wearing correct hair ties, that are in school colours and or natural hair tones (brown) and black shoes. Today I have discussed with all students at school the description of black shoes. We talked about having bright colours alongside the black and how that is not part of the uniform. Everybody agreed to chat with their parents in working towards having the correct shoes. We also discussed Nail polish as not being permitted.
Moving forward, we also had the opportunity to talk about what an upgrade for the uniform would look like. The children are thinking about what would be the most functional and what material would be the best for an upgraded uniform. Very soon we will have an opinion survey for parents on our new website… I will keep you posted.
Last week we began our remote assembly. A few school leaders positioned themselves in the brick stairwell to showcase some reallocated artwork. The plan is to choose a different part of the school each fortnight as a background for the assembly. All classes responded well to the new format and enjoyed seeing each other in their different learning spaces.
As all non essential workers are not to be on site during the pandemic we have had to cancel the professional school photos booked in for this year. The staff have decided to put together a simpler package using the digital technology that is available to us. We have sourced a booklet to hold the photos in and we are sorting out costs and options. The photo-type for this will be made available shortly along with a date and other necessary details.
We have been told that all new enrolments are able to have an after hours tour. One family at a time, socially distancing, and after this weekend all adults wearing masks, sanitising available as the tour proceeds. If you would like to book a tour for a new enrolment or know anybody who is considering our school, please encourage them to ring and make a booking for after school hours.
Blessings for a restful weekend,
Yours in Partnership,
A word from our School Captains Claudia & Deakin
