Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to share my thoughts and blessings for the students preparing for 1st Eucharist and Baptism. We have a group of nine students who have asked to join the Catholic Faith. With support from their parents, Father James and Mrs. Piening they have been preparing at school. They will be Baptised at the Easter Vigil at Sacred Heart. I ask for your prayers for all candidates for both Baptism and First Eucharist during this very special time of their Faith Journey.
UNIFORM
I draw your attention to ensuring your students have a school hat every day. We are not encouraging the sharing of hats. The consequence for not having a hat at school is playing in the undercover area.
NAPLAN
This week both students in Grade 3 and Grade 5 have begun the NAPLAN assessment schedule. The Grade 3 students have a handwritten test for the writing component and the rest of the assessment is online. All the Grade 5 assessment is online. The students are sitting the assessment in the Library in strict exam conditions. With the assessment mostly being online it means the schedule is implemented over two weeks and children who miss days are to catch up within the two weeks following.
HOT LUNCH FRIDAY
A great big thank you to the parents who are supporting our school on our hot food lunch days. The lunches are appreciated by the students and teachers, and this makes Friday a special day. Thank you.
Drop off and Pick Up
For safety reasons we cannot have cars parking where the morning flags are or beyond to let children out. Parents and Cares who wish to drop and run must drive to the gate at 8:30 and let the children walk up inside the school.
Cars must move in and around the car park at walking pace (10kph) as designated by the signs on the road and (5kph) in the car park. Everybody must enter and leave the road slowly.
Sports day
Next Thursday 21st March is our Sports Carnival Day. Both the senior and junior students will participate in athletic activities for their houses. The Sport’s Captains will support their teams and lead the junior school in their activities in the second half of the day. We invite all students to dress in their house colours on the day. We will also celebrate Harmony Day in the off-field time on the day. The celebration and appreciation of each other’s differences enhances the variety of competition offered at the sports carnival.
Free Dress Day
All students are invited to wear free dress on Wednesday 20th in exchange for a donation for the Easter raffle the following week. On Wednesday the following week (the last day of Term 1) we will have an Easter Bonnet Parade followed by the Grade 5/6 students leading us in the Stations of the Cross and then we will draw the raffle.
I wish you all a restful weekend,
God Bless,
Anne-Marie Robb

Whole School Approach to Positive Behaviour
Whole School Approach to Positive Behaviour
Sacred Heart staff have been completing professional development around how we discuss consequences. We are working towards a school wide approach to addressing consequences to behaviour in the classroom and on the yard.
What is a consequence? A consequence means that our behaviour matters. We do not want punishment. We want our students to learn from their mistakes, reconcile with the community and know what to do next time.
Watch this space as we begin to roll out more information to our school community!
