Dear Sacred Heart Families,
We have all enjoyed the sudden burst of Spring weather this week and the children have embraced play on the oval. The new fence around the oval is a fabulous addition keeping us safe while we are playing on the oval.
BOOKWEEK
Our celebrations for Book Week were fabulous with so many of our students dressing up with inspiration. On the day we had the MeerKat production company share an interpretation of a short-listed book called Timeless by Kelly Canby. The story was about a boy called Emit (whose parents turned back time to name him) is surrounded by busyness. Dad is too busy to read stories, Mum is too busy to play games and Emit’s brother and sister are simply too busy doing nothing to do anything, at all. Emit tries everything he can think of to get more time, he tries to catch it, wait for it, but it’s not until Emit tries to buy some time that he learns the secret which is, if you want time, you have to make it
MARY MCKILLOP FEAST DAY
On the same day we celebrated the founding Sister of our school. St. Mary of the Cross. Mary MacKillop’s sisters of St. Joseph founded Sacred Heart in her later years. The St. Joseph Sisters have had a long and warm connection to our school since it was established. St. Vincent’s, Sacred Heart and Lumen Christi all attended Mass together. We thoroughly enjoyed the company of Lumen Christi staff and students after the Mass celebration of St. Mary MacKillop. The children worked in levelled groups with Grade 5/6 together, 3/4 together and the Juniors together working on deepening their knowledge of the Josephite sisters and the work Mary MacKillop did at the turn of the century. The children made new connections and reconnected with some old friends.
UNIFORM
I am pleased to see that more students are wearing their correct uniform. The wearing of black shoes has particularly improved. If you are waiting on an order or have wet and muddy items, please let your child’s teacher know via email or note. There are some beautiful hair dos coming to school with rainbow coloured hair ties. Whilst they are lovely and in the junior room mostly the are not the uniform. Hair ties must be red, white, bottle green, black or natural hair colour. Unicorn or rainbow is not acceptable. Earrings are to be one lobe piercing with a sleeper or a stud and necklaces can be a religious pendant to be worn at the students’ own risk. Nail polish is not allowed, socks must be black, bottle green, white or the school branded socks, if it is cold, a black or bottle green or old style knitted beanie can be worn outside. Please ensure your child is in the correct uniform.
HATS
The wearing of Hats will begin after the Father’s Day weekend. Already we have had weather demanding caution outside for longer periods of time. If you do not know where your child’s hat is please make an effort to ask them to look for it and bring it home. We have new hats for sale in the office $10 each. Children will not be permitted to wear each other’s hats for hygienic reasons.
INTERSCHOOL SPORTS DISTRICT ATHLETICS
Mrs. Martin took a group of students to the District Athletics last week. The students had a warm day and were able to show the community how well they could interact and compete positively against their peers. We have a number of students who made it to the next level and will compete again at the end of term.
SOCIAL MEDIA
I continue to ask that all parents and care givers continue to monitor their students on digital platforms. Children in primary school have not yet developed the capabilities to self-regulate in this area of interaction.
THE TIME MACHINE
The students have started to work on the production items their class are presenting in the school production. We are blessed to have many rich and talented staff in this area who are working on dance moves and costume design. The production will be presented in the second week of Term 4.
All Grade 5/6 students who wish to act in the play will have an opportunity to do so with all classes embracing dance moves in the inquiry sessions.
Keep Warm and…God Bless,
Anne-Marie Robb

This week we had district sports and lots of kids had so much fun! Some children went through but sadly some didn't, there were events like long jump, triple jump, sprints and relays! All the kids were very tired when they came home and some did not arrive at school the next day. Congratulations to those that made it through to the next round.
Last week we had a busy Thursday. It was book week dress-up day and we had Mary Mackillop Mass with Lumen Christi and St Vincent's. After Mass, Lumen Christi came back to our classrooms with us and we had activities and lunch with them.
From your School Captains
I would like thank everyone who has purchased any items at this years bookfair. Your purchases have
