Transition Programs
Transitions are a part of life. Starting and ending primary school are two of the most significant transitions for our students.
Foundation students enrolled for the following year are invited to participate in Sacred Heart Little Learners program. This takes place weekly throughout Term 4. It consists of a morning once a week for students to become familiar with the school: our environment, personnel, structure, expectations, and other students. It also gives us the opportunity to begin to know and understand the needs of the new children. This is always an exciting time of year for both the ‘new’ Foundation student and the whole school community which watches the new intake with great anticipation. Parents will be informed of the details as to when this will take place – and well ahead of time.
Year Six students transitioning to Secondary School are given the opportunity to visit their new school. Opportunity is also given for secondary students to visit the school to speak to the Year Sixes to let them know what secondary school will be like. For students who have additional learning or social/emotional needs, extra support may be required and this is discussed with the individual student’s parents as required.
